Lunch at IHS
Lunch is a lively time when students enjoy a variety of meals and catch up with friends.
Lunch A & B
School lunch is divided into two sections - lunch A and lunch B. Your assigned lunch is determined by your 4th period class. Students are informed of their lunch assignment in August, when class schedules are officially released on Skyward. Keep in mind that lunch A may be earlier than you are used to, starting at 10:40, while lunch B, starting at 11:35, is later in the day.
Lunchline/Cafeteria
The cafeteria provides three lines for food. The middle line is a daily meal option, where there is a scheduled meal each day, such as orange chicken and nachos. The left line is the à la carte option, which includes foods that stay the same on a daily basis, such as pizza, fries, and burgers. The right line is for snacks only, where students can get a quick bite or drink option without having to wait in the other lines. Students can either load their lunch accounts online, or pay upfront with cash. You need to know your student ID in order to purchase from the cafeteria.
DECA Store
Another place students can purchase food is at The Issaquah DECA Store, which sells a wide range of entrees, snacks, and drinks and accepts both cash and credit cards. The snacks and drinks available are very similar to those found in the cafeteria, however they do offer some specialties, such as slushies and sparkling apple juice. You can find this store near the gym, or on the mobile DECA cart which goes around the commons.

Clubs
Experimenting and trying out new clubs is a great way to discover a new passion, and can help you to connect with like-minded people. Starting your own club is another great way to grow your community and reach, all while getting to teach others about a topic you love. If you wish to start your own club, contact ASB early on in the year and follow all necessary procedures to get started. In general, clubs are an amazing way to showcase your initiative and leadership skills, something that isn’t usually addressed in school. By joining early on and expressing dedication, you can eventually rise to take on a greater leadership role.

Informative Assemblies
Informative assemblies educate IHS students about the importance of different historical events and people. Some examples are the MLK and Veterans Day assemblies, in which a guest speaker often presents. These assemblies are fun, but discuss serious topics that students should value.
Spirit Weeks
Spirit Weeks are what truly make IHS special. These consist of events that ASB (Association Student Body) organizes to encourage school spirit and celebrate holidays Each day of the week has a unique theme, such as Beach day, PJ day, and School Colors day. Another fun part of spirit weeks is special food distributions, such as ASB providing hot chocolate before school. We highly encourage getting involved in Spirit Weeks as they are an awesome way to show off your school spirit and connect with peers.
Interactive Assemblies
The interactive assemblies, on the other hand, are more light-hearted, allowing for student participation in fun games and activities. These events are run by ASB and are often geared towards promoting school-wide events such as Hoco and Tolo. Our end-of-year assembly, for example, included an inflatable soccer game and a donut eating competition.

Sports Games
-
Perhaps the most enjoyable part of high school is attending sports games and athletic events. At these events, the entire school comes together to show off their school spirit and cheer on one another. The most popular events are the varsity football and basketball games, consisting of tons of good food and entertainment. We encourage you to attend as many games as you can, as they are truly memorable experiences that last a lifetime.

Homecoming and Tolo
-
Don’t forget about our school dances! The first, Homecoming (Hoco), is a school dance that occurs during the fall where students dress up in formal attire. It is a high school tradition that typically takes place at IHS, where the school is decorated festively and a DJ plays music. For Hoco, ASB selects a unique theme picked out by a student majority, such as Under the Sea. Similarly, Tolo is the second school dance that occurs in the spring. This event is less formal, where the attire is based on an ASB selected theme. Like Hoco, Tolo is decorated by ASB with even more theming and photo booths. In contrast to Hoco, Tolo traditionally involves girls inviting boys to the dance.

Events
Much like clubs, joining sports can help you discover a passion and help you form a fun, collaborative community. Every sport requires a high level of commitment, with practices taking place 5-6 days a week. Sports are split into 3 sections throughout the entire year including fall, winter and spring.
